Sandra walked along the trees. It has been a month since she and her family decided to stay in Berk. With her little notebook in hand she walked to the base of a large rock formation. "OK," she said rubbing her hands together. "Let's do this!" putting her book in her nap-sack, and putting her foot on the first of the many rocks. Climbing higher and higher she got to the top of the pile. Now perched on top and overlooked the view of the tree line. Pulling the small book back out and her drawing utensils she began to sketch the view. Sandra gave a sigh, besides the dragons, the view on the island was the best thing in the world.

« Reply #1 on Jun 20, 2010, 10:03pm » The ruby-eyed Night Fury had just been waking up from a light nap, having dozed off in her little shelf of rock she liked to call home. As her conscience began its slow climb upward into the world of reality, the young dragon couldn't help but sense that something was amiss in its surroundings.
But she didn't worry. She was so high up in the mountains that no intruder could possibly make its way up here...maybe another dragon, but she could definitely handle that on her own.
But as Indigo opened her eyes further, she saw it.
A small shape, sitting on a rocky outcrop, only a few feet from the entrance to her cave. That was no dragon...it was a Viking; the one thing Indigo hated and feared the most in this world. It was huddled over something, seemingly deep in concentration; it's arms moving slightly from the motion of something in its hands. After a few seconds, it would stop look up and around, and make some sort of weird, airy noise which the Night Fury guessed by the sound would come from the nasal passages and from deep inside the throat. It didn't look to be a threat at the moment...but she would take no chances.
Indigo slowly rose herself up onto her sturdy back legs, spreading her wide, black wings in an attempt to make herself appear bigger than she really was...after all, she was smaller than the other Night Furies. Her pupils closed to slits and she squinted her red eyes (this, she had noticed, scared a lot of Vikings since they already thought she was a devil). A low growl escaped from the back of her throat, and she bared her wide, retractable teeth.
If this didn't chase off that pesky Viking, what would?

Mordar was sitting on a small outcropping out on the ocean. As he looked out across, he thought he saw another dragon, and wanted to investigate. His urge eventually got the better of him, since this dragon appeared to be smaller than he was.
He flew off into the air and swooped towards where he saw the shape. Landing in an area nearby, he was careful not to be heard, until the time was right at least...
He looked upon the scene.

Much to Indigo's dismay, her "frightening" appearance did nothing to scare off the intruding Viking; rather it only attracted another dragon, which she had seen land out of the corner of her eye. It didn't seem to be advancing on the scene, so she decided to drop him a mental connection and wonder what the hell he was doing in her territory. All she had wanted was a nap and some time to herself, and suddenly her cave had become the most popular place on the island.
Don't come any closer! Indigo warned the other dragon, her growl elevating slightly in volume in tone with her annoyance. If you can, tell that human to hop it as well...I don't need her kind around here.
(For the record, Indigo's "mental connection" can only be heard by other dragons, since I believe that's how they communicate with each other (since too much physical noise distracts them) Sandra shouldn't be able to hear Indigo.)

Mordar got the message, and retreated slightly; since this dragon did not seem to want to be disturbed. He was wondering whether to fire a fire blast, as a warning, to the human per this dragons instructions, but he didn't want to weaken the cave and cause a landslide.
So instead, he roared loudly and menacingly in the Viking's direction, in an attempt to get her to back away.

Sandra jumped at the sound of a loud growl coming from a dragon just by the mountain, turning she saw another one just behind her. "Wow, two in one day!" flipping her booking to a fresh page she began to sketch the dragon in the cave. "Easy," She quickly glanced under the dragon to tell it's gender. "Girl, I just want to get a pretty picture of you, yes pretty, see." Sandra showed the sketch to the beast, hoping it would enjoy the gift. "Now just sit still," sticking her head out of the cave Sandra saw the other dragon was still there. "I'll get you soon!" She called. "Man I never saw a Ruby eyed Night Fury! Dad's gonna freak!" Sandra said as she excitedly sketched the eyes in next.

Finally, after all the noise Indigo and the other dragon was making, the Viking seemed to have a reaction, jumping at the sound of the other dragon's roar. But, instead of moving, the Viking turned around...and stood there. She stood her ground, surprisingly, and smiled at her, her mouth jabbering quickly and excitedly at the sight of the Night Fury. Is she...mad?!
Then the Viking began to wave a block of paper in front of her face, talking rapidly again and glancing underneath Indigo. The simple action puzzled her; she wasn't sure whether to be offended or not...
Indigo growled louder, baring her teeth. She didn't want the Viking here at all, and the fact that her attempt to get her to leave had failed, that had really set Indigo off. She lowered herself, crouching to pounce...

"Eep!" Sandra yelped as she saw the dragon getting ready to pounce. "Listen girl, I'm just drawing you. See," she showed the nearly done sketch again to no avail. "Um...Hey girl, hungry?" Sandra rummaged through her pack and found a half eaten lamb leg. Tossing it to the dragon in disgust of the smell she hoped it would be good enough. "Sorry, I know you guys like fish but that's all I got." Sandra then tried to go back to drawing, praying to the gods she could finish this picture before she was killed.

Mordar looked on at the other dragon. She seemed to be handling the situation, but he was in the shadows, ready just in case. After all, there was no way one human could fight off 2 dragons. He was wondering why this girl was risking her life, and giving the dragon food?! This really piqued his curiosity.
As he looked on, he checked to see if the dragon responded.

Indigo was almost ready to crush the human flat beneath her feet; coiled up and tense like an old spring. She would teach that Viking once and for all not to set foot in her cave...however, before the Night Fury had a chance to spring, the Viking pulled something out of her pack and tossed it in her direction.
She was startled, at first, immediately turning tail and running back into her cave as if the item would rear up and attack her. However, when nothing happened, Indigo turned back around, staring at the object. Meat? The human was trying to feed her?
Indigo started forward curiously, tentatively sniffing at the young Viking's offering. It wasn't like the fish she usually ate...but it did smell good. She bumped the lamb leg with her snout, all the while watching the human carefully out of the corner of her eye. She never stopped growling, but she did quiet once she had inspected the meat thoroughly; but instead of taking a bite of it, she picked it up in her teeth and tossed it back at the human. I'm not taking a bite of that thing until you have some first, she thought, still not fully trusting the intruder. For all she knew, the lamb could be days old or laced with some sort of poison designed to knock her out or even kill her. She sat back up on her hind legs and eyed the human for a response. If you won't eat it, then I know I shouldn't.

Sandra looked up at the dragon, she wasn't eating the meat. "Oh yeah." Sandra grabbed the meat and ripped a layer of the meat off and began to chew on it and ate the lamb. "See," Sandra tossed the food back to the dragon. "It's good!" Sandra said as she went back to the drawing. "Just be careful of the bones, those things aren't good to eat."

The Viking ripped a layer of the meat off the bone and put it in her mouth, seemingly without any complications. So it was good enough to eat. Indigo's growl lowered again, and she began prodding the meat once more with her snout to watch the girl's reaction. Well...she wasn't keeling over or vomiting...so while keeping her guard up as high as possible, Indigo reached over and took a tentative bite of the lamb.
It definitely had an interesting taste...not like any fish she'd ever eaten. It was tougher, and a little less salty; but it nonetheless was good. Indigo took another bite, and another...until she just picked the entire leg up and swallowed it whole. Then she sat up once again, no longer growling; but still eyeing the Viking and her block of papers warily. What is she doing...?

"See, it's good right?" Sandra said to the dragon. After a few more minutes of time passed Sandra stood up and grabbed her sack to get the color utensils. She began to color in the sketch of the Night Fury's eyes, they were a lovely ruby color the sketch's color gave the eyes no justice. Looking up at the dragon peering at the paper Sandra turned the book and showed the dragon the drawing. "See, I'm drawing you," Sandra looked at the dragon again and smiled. "Not as good as the real thing though."

Seeing the human turn the block of papers around in her hands, Indigo suddenly realized that there was something on the top sheet...something that looked just like her! She sniffed, leaning down for a closer look at the drawing, curious of the girl's ability to copy her image so well with only a stick. It was her alright, red eyes and all. She glanced over at the stick the Viking held in her hand, which was also red in color.
Interesting...
Indigo reached down and grabbed the block of papers in her teeth, being careful not to ruin the image that the girl had made with her strange colored sticks. She turned and went back into the cave, setting the sketch on the floor next to an arrangement of fishbones she had finished building the other day. She cocked her head to the side, as if inspecting it, then began to push the block of papers around some more before she was finally satisfied with the way the picture looked with her fishbone art. It sure made a nice centerpiece...

"Hey!" Sandra yelled as the dragon grabbed her drawing and placed it near a pile of fish bones. "Ya like it?" Sandra asked Going over to the book Sandra pointed to the picture.

As the Viking followed Indigo into her cave, immediately the dragon began growling again, which intensified when the girl got closer to the picture. She hoped the girl wouldn't try to move it...it would take her forever to get her centerpiece to look right again. However, the girl simply pointed to the picture and moved her mouth into a weird, unnatural-looking curve, almost as if she was asking Indigo if she liked the picture.
Indigo cautiously stepped forward, looking at the picture and back to the girl. I wonder if she's made anymore... Moving quickly, Indigo reached up and pinned the Viking girl to the ground, sniffing all over her in an attempt to find any more sketches or even one of her sketching-sticks. They would be priceless items to have, and they would truly lighten her cave up a lot. She pressed her snout into the folds of the girl's animal-hide clothing, and then into the sack at her side, making sure to keep her firmly pinned beneath her claws, just in case she brought a weapon.

Sandra yelped as the dragons claw came down on her and pinned her down. The dragon began to sniff her, what was she looking for? "I-I don't have anymore food. Sorry!" Sandra said but the dragon didn't remove her claws off of her. As the dragons nose pressed against her clothes and pack. Sandra reached for her red drawing tool. "I don't have food but what about this?" Sandra offered the stick, putting it at the dragon's side.

As Mordar watched Indigo go into the cave, he thought he'd better follow just to be sure. After all, this was getting quite interesting, and he was always curious, so he entered the cave.
He moved slowly to avoid detection, because after all if the human noticed him she might be startled.

Sandra had to admit to herself she was a little frightened, she didn't want to anger the beast or harm it so it would let her go, she just had to try to reason with it for now. Laying under the beast's claw she felt a light breeze followed by small vibration under her, as if someone was coming in. 'Thank the gods! Someone must of come from the village!' Tilting her head back enough to see Sandra saw no one. 'Man, I got to think fast!' Sandra extended her arm as far as she could and grabbed her pack, throwing it across the wall. "Look girl," Sandra pointed to the drawing supplies that had fallen fro her pack. "Pretty right?" Sandra said. If she could just get the dragon to get off of her she could get out, no sketch was worth this much.

Much to the Night Fury's dismay, there seemed to be no more sketches on the Viking girl; and Indigo let out a slight huff of disappointment. However, once she had the girl pinned beneath her claws, she couldn't help but catch the small cry of surprise that came from the young human's lips. How does it feel to become the hunted? Indigo thought to herself, staring the girl down. It was about time the Vikings knew what it was like to be living in fear of a predatory species.
Suddenly, the Viking began to reach for her pack; freeing one of her arms from beneath Indigo's claw and reaching for the animal hide bag laying only a few inches away. Startled, Indigo let out a roar and backed away, baring her teeth at the human again. If she was going to be attacked, then this time she would be ready. However, the Viking did not draw a weapon. She tossed the bag into a corner, where it landed with a thud and those strange, colored sticks spilled out of it. The girl pointed to the sticks, jabbering excitedly, as if she were trying to use them to get Indigo's attention.
Curious, she relented, leaving the Viking to sniff at the art supplies, trying to see how they worked, Indigo picked up a stick that was similar to her in color, chewing at the wood a bit to try and figure out what it was made of. However, the bitter taste of the wood and the coloring inside made the Night Fury spit the stick out in disgust, and she shook her head to try and erase the sensation from her mind.
That was when she spotted the other dragon from before.
Hey! What are you doing in here?! Indigo yelled mentally to the intruder. I told you to hop it! She rose up onto her hind legs and roared, spreading her wings and claws at the other dragon. Go on, get out of here, before I force you out!

When freed from the dragon's grasp Sandra quietly inched to the mouth of the cave. 'I can't believed that worked!' Sandra stopped as she saw the other dragon appear. "I knew it was to good to be true." Sandra muttered to herself. Seeing the ruby-eyed Night Fury getting ready to attack Sandra decided she might as well forget the sketch and pack, dad always said her life wasn't worth it. Running to the mouth of the cave Sandra jumped to one of the trees and sat down on a branch, she was out of the cave, but now she could see dragon interaction first hand! She wished she had her writing pad so badly. Sandra quickly thought fast and grabbed one of the utensils she always kept in her boot for emergencies, dad always said she'd need it. She began to scrap at some peeling bark and finally she had a way to take notes. Now all she needed was for the dragons to act.
