Fäolin held the ruby red dragon egg in his hands. It had white veins on it. Fäolin was an elf. He was tall with angled facial features and pointed ears. He was tall and thin, but twenty times stronger than the strongest man in both strength and magic. Fäolin was faster than the fastest man. He had short black hair. Suddenly, he heard squeaks coming from the egg. Then the egg started shaking. Fäolin placed the egg on the ground in front of him. He looked around his firelit camp in the plains. No people in sight. The egg cracked and a little ruby red dragon head poked out of the egg. It had little curved ivory fangs curling over its lower lip. Then the dragon slowly crawled out of the egg, looking around curiously. Then the baby dragon slowly crept towards Fäolin. Fäolin slowly reached out with his left hand. He touched the dragon's head with his palm. There was a bright flash of light and icy heat shot up Fäolin's left arm and through the rest of his body. The energy burned through him for several minutes. Then the pain slowly faded. Fäolin looked at his left palm. A curved mark was on it. "The gedwëy ignasia," murmured Fäolin. "I am a Dragon Rider."

Sonya landed lightly on the ground, her wings kicking up dust and leaves that sparkled in the light reflecting off of her white scales. Vedrit looked around from on her back. The Spine hadn't changed much from when he had found Sonya's egg. He had met many enemies, and a few friends, since then. He slid off Sonya's back and wandered a bit. "This is where we met?" she asked, "And our story began?" Vedrit smirked, "Yes, if such words were applied." He grew up a ways away from here, deeper into the Spine, and wondered if his brothers, or even the camp that had been his home for years, were still there.
Then Sonya stiff and turn into another direction.
